β€œThe two things that excite me and make me vibrate are the aesthetic feeling: Beauty is what moves me, and after that, intelligence.”

- Ricardo Bofill

Julia Dankov is a Ukrainian-American ceramic artist born, bred and based in Brooklyn, NY. Her practice is an exercise in articulating the space between elegant symmetry and organic imperfection. She draws inspiration from the silhouettes and proportions of Ancient Greek vessels, as well as Japanese wabi sabi textures and details. In an embrace of the inherently raw nature of her medium, she utilizes various pinching and coiling methods to achieve asymmetry and movement, and hand painting techniques to create texture and depth.
